always where the wild things are…

About 2 months ago, I turned the ripe ole age of 18!. It was quite a surreal experience, but I loved and enjoyed every moment I was able to spend with my gals as well as going clubbing for the first time. I did a post like this last year and enjoyed putting together life lessons I learned in a year so I decided to do it again. This may become a yearly thing.

Here is a subjective list of arbitrary, sporadic thoughts on life lessons learned from the big 18…

  1. Change is imperative. Nothing can stay the same forever, go with the flow and embrace it
  2. Forgiveness is good for you.
  3. Meeting new people and engaging in fresh adventures before make me happy.
  4. "In five years, will this matter?" is now my motto.
  5. I can’t please everyone and trying to please everyone is stupid and exhausting.
  6. First impressions are often incorrect.
  7. The term ‘not all that glitters is gold ’works very well in relationships and friendships.
  8. I am not the epicentre of the universe. It is important to check up on friends and family.
  9. No matter how carefully a project is planned, something may still go wrong with it.
  10. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
  11. Going against the grain, refusing to conform, taking the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path is much more fun.
  12. My life belongs to me and me alone.
  13. I will not let the world harden me.
  14. Question everything.
  15. Sometimes the only way to ever find yourself is to get completely lost.
  16. Don’t care so much about the destination. Enjoy the journey.
  17. Don’t dwell on the past, it’s not relevant.
  18. The best is yet to come.
